BCI incorporates as an Australian association

Coinciding with this year’s Business Continuity Awareness Week in Australia, the BCI is delighted to announce that:

The Business Continuity Institute Incorporated, an Australian association, has been established and registered with the Office of Fair Trading.

The BCII will operate as the Australian chapter of the BCI and will function within the rules and regulations of the BCI. BCI certification and its attendant international recognition will continue to be managed by the BCI in the United Kingdom.

The association is a huge step forward for the BCI’s operations in Australia. The creation of a legal BCI entity in Australia allows the BCI to operate more effectively and, more importantly, to raise funds to better support Australian BCI Members.

This will add a great deal of strength to the tremendous hard work of the Australian Representative, the State Representatives and Australian Forum Leaders and Secretaries who continue to provide their services to the Australian Business Continuity community on a voluntary basis. However, now they can promote the art and science of business continuity management with financial backing for the services and events provided.

Going forward, it will be possible to organise and run BCI events and training, subsidise forums and provide enhanced services for all Australian BCI members, who will automatically become members of the BCII.

The first committee of the BCII will comprise:

Bill Hannan – President

Peter Sierwald – Vice President and Treasurer

Barry Pendle – Secretary

Annette Cummings – Ordinary Member

Tim Janes – Ordinary Member

Les Whittet – Ordinary Member

The coming year will see the development of Business Continuity services through the newly incorporated association and we look forward to continued support from Australian BCI members.
